Reid was asked about the Chiefs' selection of QB Jordan Love in the 2020 NFL Draft, to which he replied,

Key Highlights :

On February 16th, 2021, the Green Bay Packers made a surprising move by trading up in the first round of the NFL Draft to select quarterback Jordan Love. The move sent shockwaves through the league, and even caught the attention of Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid. However, when asked about the pick, Reid initially had a hard time remembering who Love was.

Reid’s memory was eventually jogged, but his initial reaction was understandable. After all, Love had only started one game in college, a November 2020 matchup against the Chiefs. Despite the lack of experience, Love acquitted himself well in the game, throwing for 310 yards and two touchdowns. Reid was impressed by the performance, saying “I thought he was good.”

Love was drafted 26th overall in the 2020 NFL Draft, and the Packers are hoping that history will repeat itself. After all, Love is in the same position that Aaron Rodgers was in when he was drafted in 2005. Rodgers went on to have a Hall of Fame career in Green Bay, and the Packers are hoping that Love can have the same success.

Unfortunately for the Packers, Rodgers is likely to join the New York Jets this season, leaving Love as the starter. It will be a tall task for the rookie, but if he can replicate even a fraction of Rodgers’ success, the Packers will be in good shape. It remains to be seen if Love can live up to the expectations, but his performance against the Chiefs certainly gave the Packers hope.
