As the gaming industry continues to evolve, new games are released every month and the top 40 rankings change accordingly. This month, Resident Evil 4 makes its first appearance in the top 20, while Hogwarts Legacy and Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty fall further down the rankings. Roblox and Rocket League swapped places at sixth and seventh, and Sea of Thieves hopped up two spots to 18th.


Resident Evil 4, a horror-survival game released in 2005, made its first appearance in the top 20 at 19th place. The game has seen a resurgence in popularity as a result of its re-release on modern consoles, and it is now one of the most popular games in the world.


Elden Ring, an upcoming action-RPG from FromSoftware and Bandai Namco Entertainment, added ray tracing on Xbox Series X and jumped two spaces up to 23rd. Atomic Heart, a first-person shooter set in an alternate Soviet Union, fell six spots to 24th. A Plague Tale: Requiem, an action-adventure game set in 14th century France, reappeared at 26th. Cities: Skylines Remastered, a city-building simulator, made its first appearance in the top 40.


Far Cry 5, an open-world first-person shooter, hauled itself up from 40th to 32nd. Civilization VI, a turn-based strategy game, dropped ten spots to 34th. Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition, a real-time strategy game, fell five spots to 40th. Ni no Kuni II: Revenant Kingdom, an action-RPG, has not yet made it to the top 40. Finally, MLB The Show 23, a baseball simulation game, joined Game Pass and made its way into the top 40.


Overall, the top 40 rankings saw some interesting changes this month. Resident Evil 4 made its first appearance in the top 20, while some older games dropped further down the rankings. New games, such as Cities: Skylines Remastered and MLB The Show 23, made their way into the top 40, while others, such as Ni no Kuni II: Revenant Kingdom, are still waiting to make their debut.
